Dr. Md Khadzir is the Head of the Health Informatics Centre, Ministry of Health, Malaysia. He is a certified Occupational Health Physician and received his Medical Degree from National University of Malaysia, Master Degree in Occupational Medicine from the National University of Singapore and PhD Degree in Occupational Health from the University of Birmingham, UK. He had been drafting Health Laws; Medical Ethics and instrumental in initiating the Traditional and Complementary Medicine Services in the pioneer Hospital Kepala Batas, Hospital Putrajaya and Hospital Sultan Ismail.
The program includes registration of Traditional and Complementary Medicine practitioner in Malaysia. He has been heading the development and operation of electronic Health Information and Management System and the development of Health Informatics Standards for Malaysia since late 2008. He is now leading the development of Malaysian Health Data Warehouse, the project was developed using more than 90 percent local technology; was rolled out in August 2016 and launched by the Health Minister in April 2017.
The Data Warehouse collects and analyzed visit data of all individuals visiting any healthcare facilities and managed structured and unstructured data. The analytic result are presented in either fixed format report; dashboard; ad-hoc query; and in Geographic Information System (GIS). The emphasis of the project has been on quality data with overarching privacy and security of data and information in place. The project is now moving into Big Data Analytics with emphasis on more data sources and predictive analytics.
