Dr. Prasad Jayabalan is the Head of Cybersecurity Strategy & Architecture at Axiata Group, one of Asia’s foremost telecommunications conglomerates operating in multiple countries. With extensive experience in cybersecurity, Dr. Prasad plays a crucial role in fortifying Axiata’s digital infrastructure against the sophisticated landscape of cyber threats.
Dr. Prasad is a seasoned Professional Technologist (Ts.) in the cybersecurity technology domain, registered with the Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT). Joining Axiata in 2022, he has been instrumental in developing and implementing comprehensive cybersecurity strategies that safeguard the company’s critical assets and data. His responsibilities include developing and governing Cybersecurity Strategy and Enterprise Security Architecture, overseeing the implementation of advanced security technologies, and ensuring compliance with global cybersecurity standards and regulations.
Dr. Prasad’s career in cybersecurity spans almost two decades. Prior to his tenure at Axiata, he held several prominent positions in leading Multinational (MNC) and Government Linked Companies (GLC), where he successfully led global information security initiatives and promoted the value of security technology in managing cyber risk and enabling safer business operations.
Dr. Prasad holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Cybersecurity, a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA), and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, all from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). He is a Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) and Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC), and holds several other industry-recognized certifications.
In addition to his role at Axiata, Dr. Prasad serves as an Adjunct Professor, where he shares his extensive knowledge and experience with the next generation of cybersecurity professionals. His academic involvement underscores his commitment to education and his passion for fostering talent in the cybersecurity domain.
